Medicare

Medicare is an insurance program administered by the United States government, providing health insurance coverage to people who are aged 65 and over, or who meet other special criteria.

Medicaid

Medicaid is the United States and State of Alaska health program for eligible individuals and families with low incomes and resources. As a federally recognized Community Health Center, SVT Health & Wellness accepts Medicaid.

Denali KidCare

Denali KidCare is a State of Alaska program designed to ensure that children and teens of both working and non-working families can have the health insurance they need. Pregnant and nursing mothers, and children, may qualify for this program.

Veterans Benefits

Veterans Administration benefits are available for eligible individuals who served in the active military, naval or air service and are separated under any condition other than dishonorable.

ANTHC

Alaska Native or American Indian? Tribes and Tribal health organizations may now pay for health insurance for Alaska Native and American Indian people who qualify. This program is called Tribally Sponsored Health Insurance Program, TSHIP.

The Alaska Tribal Health System is offering Tribally-Sponsored Health Insurance in Alaska on a limited trial basis. This sponsorship is a collaboration of 10 tribes and Tribal organizations.  To learn more about SHIP click here.

Indian Health Service

American Indians and Alaska Natives are covered by the Indian Health Service which is the constitutionally-obligated principal federal health care provider and health advocate for Indian people.

Health Insurance Marketplace

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) Health Insurance Marketplace is a federal program that provides financial help paying for a health insurance plan from a private company. The amount of financial help is based on your projected income and tax family size.

  • Annual open enrollment is November 1 – December 15
  • If you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP), you can enroll in health insurance outside the annual Open Enrollment period. You qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you’ve had certain life changes like getting married, having a baby, or losing job-based health insurance. These are called “qualifying life events.”
  • Members of federally recognized Indian tribes can enroll in or change plans once a month throughout the year.
