Monthly Thriving Thursdays Flyer August 2017

We’re taking Thriving Thursdays outside this summer!

Come join us on our farm visits to local Community Supported Agriculture Farms (CSA). This is an opportunity to learn more about how your local food is being grown and the families that are our local growers. We will meet at SVT Health & Wellness (in the Wellness Wing)  at 6pm, check in and then carpool to each week’s field site, enjoying walks and farm visits together to learn more about Homer’s wild and agricultural food resources.

August 3    Twitter Creek Gardens

Join Emily Garrity on her nine acre micro-farm located on the South side of Lookout Mountain. The farm cultivates 1 1/2 acres of nutrient dense vegetables and raise close to 50 different types of vegetables and herbs.

August 10   Kackleberry Farm

Terry and Randall Jones will showcase their 10 acres located seventeen miles East of Homer at the head of Kachemak Bay.  The farm is primarily a Dairy Goat farm-producing raw milk, butter, cream, yogurt and cheese. They also raise organic vegetables, potatoes, eggs and meat.

August 17   Seaside Farm

We will be meeting with Mossy Kilcher to tour her wonderful U-pick raspberry patch.  Her beautiful farm has horses, chickens, vegetable and flower gardens, and provides a seaside variety of lodging with rental cabins, rooms, and campsites for visitors to enjoy.

August 24  Kilcher Homestead

Join siblings Otto and Catkin Kilcher on the family’s 640-acre homestead, which includes a Living Museum for learning about the old homestead days. A member of the Fox River Cattleman’s Association, Otto will share how to purchase grass fed beef in the fall.

August 31  Conscious Earth Farms

Join Gigi and her family on their 10-acre farm near Knob Hill in Anchor Point where they focus on producing wholesome food and pasture-raised meats and poultry.
